About us

Light, bright and full of energy, the gallery’s intention was to become a platform for artists and groups in the local community to display their work and to encourage engagement from a diverse audience. To that end MK9 showcased artists and craftspeople from the surrounding region, local schools, charities, youth and minority groups and retrospectives of highly regarded artists involved in the creation of Milton Keynes. We were more successful than we could possibly have hoped.

Operating in the heart of the centre:mk, we developed a reputation for both the diversity and the quality of the work shown and enjoyed huge support from local companies and highly skilled local art groups and craftspeople. Consequently, we were in a position to run art workshops and demonstrations for the general public and small interest groups at minimal cost.

We closed our doors on the 1st January 2012 when our venue was to be commercially developed. We had, by then, presented over thirty exhibitions ranging from those featuring professional local artist to school shows and adult learning groups. We are constantly being asked by people all across the community when we will be opening again.

MK9 Art Gallery was an invaluable asset in Milton Keynes, where many people who had never been to a gallery before felt confident to come in and engage. They were always delighted with the care and expertise offered by our dedicated volunteers.

We are urgently seeking a new space to continue with this unique and exciting venture. . .
