MK9 Art Gallery, Central Milton Keynes

aiming for art for all

MK9 Art Gallery is a sparkling concept combining in one project, wide-ranging community involvement with the arts and fully professional presentation. Each show was unique and the format constantly evolved through the creative input of its dedicated team of volunteers.

Opening in August 2008 with an acclaimed international exhibition on the subject of war, the gallery (previously known as AIM) quickly established itself as an art charity with a remarkably creative outlook and high professional standards.

Though a non-profitmaking charity, we sustained ourselves for the duration of our 3 years in the centre:mk - thanks to a rich engagement with the wider public, the generous donation of time and energy from our volunteers and the support of local organisations and high profile commercial companies.

We feel strongly that with all the skill and care that went into the creation of this space, we provided a unique and welcoming atmosphere. This is exactly the kind of atmosphere required for the re-creation of a vibrant shopping experience that benefits all.

The centre:mk, of course, deserves special thanks for their vision and generosity in donating the venue and on-going support which made it possible for this wonderful project to flourish.
